I'm done!

With winter, that is. Wow, it's been way too cold the last few weeks. I'm really looking forward to some warmer weather. Hope it comes soon.

I think JT is happy I have the bedroom drywalled and painted. Just have the light fixtures to put back up then she can redecorate.

Have a good day eh!

Mobile

So, after years of trying not to go mobile, I had to bite the bullet and give in to the pressure.

Actually, I've been using my work Blackberry to keep in touch but with my increased responsibility at the Shelter Valley Folk Festival, I needed a device that actually worked at the site.

The festival site is located in the Grafton area and cell service at the site is spotty. In all my years there, I have never been able to use my phone and that includes the Blackberry.

Last year, one of my volunteers had his iPhone with him. I was supprised but the thing actually worked. Thery have a great employee deal here at work for mobile service so I decided to sign up and get a phone. Due to the service issues at the site, I went with the iPhone. This better work, that's all I can say.
I've been fairly happy with it compared to the Blackberry but the BB is attached to my business network and our security department has it fairly locked down.

Slow day

The snow always seems to bring out the worst drivers. People have to remember to give themselves a bit more time and space. It never fails to amaze me to see drivers speeding down the road, slipping and sliding and causing delays for themselves and other drivers. Here's a picture of Toronto in the snow years ago. Love these old photos.

Well, after months of inactivity, one of my bands, East Of Burden finally got together for a rehearsal this week. We still have a great vibe together and hopefully that will show when we play.

My main band, Leona's Sister made an appointment to visit the studio. Looks like we have 3 or 5 songs to put down. Can't wait to visit my buddy Norm at Studio 92.

Starting the year off busy

How was your New Year?

JT and I had a bit of a party on NYE. I crashed a few hours after midnight but JT watched the sun come up.
New Years Day was quiet. Kind of a recovery day. We cleaned up the basement a bit the following day and had a rare weekend rehearsal on Monday.

Tonight is the first festival meeting of the year. The drive to Grafton isn't too bad in good weather but today it's snowing a bit. The highway should be fun. Coming home after is always a killer. Hard to keep focused that late.

We got a meeting with a producer guy on Wednesday then our regular rehearsal on Thursday.
Maybe I'll takl to you then.

Happy New Year

Another year bites the dust.
This has been a pretty awesome year for me on both personal and work related goals.

Let's see, started the year playing with my bud's from East Of Burden, had the League of Rock Anniversary bash and ended up doing the winter session for the League.
Joyce joined the LoR for her first time and once that was done, we reformed our old band Leona's Sister.

I reconnected with an old buddy after years putting distance between us.

The WWF-Canada had me interviewed for a article on Earth Hour and what I've been doing to help the environment. (http://wwf.ca/)

Then in the spring I was promoted at work and transferred to a location closer to home.

But who can forget the G20 mess that changed our city forever. Before I started at my new job, I had to complete a commitment to monitor our facility in the G20 zone.
The things I actually saw changed my opinion of law enforcement and not in a good way.

The summer brought new responsibilities in my new role as the Site Coordinator at the Shelter Valley Folk Festival. I managed to get the on demand hot water system working and for the first time, our hospitality folks didn't complain they were running out of hot water. (http://sheltervalley.com/)

August also brought Leona's Sister's first show. I still haven't decided if it was a good thing or not but it got us out there.

Then it was festival weekend and for some reason, the weather didn't want to make my first year on the job easy. For 3 days, we had to tie down and rebuild the festival before we could start. It was a brutal weekend but we all got through it.

Again this year I captained the Shelter Valley Folk Festival Volunteers Dragon Boat Team.
It was another stormy weekend and the races were cut short but we made out goal and supported the Northumberland United Way.

I attended the 100-Mile event in Grafton to support the local farmers and artists in the neighbourhood, attended a house concert in Port Hope and then went to Roy's house warming party in Grafton.

Leona's Sister also had a studio session and laid down Night Turns Into Darkness. You can use the widgets in the sidebar to give us a listen. (http://www.reverbnation.com/leonassister)

It's also been a tragic year with the loss of a few friends and even as late as Wednesday night with the passing of my buddy's step-mom.

Have a safe and happy new year.
Peace

Welcome

Well I finally got around to launching this blog. It's a bit different than I thought it would be but my life is completely different now.

I play bass and am currently playing in the band Leona's Sister. Hope you click on a widget and take a listen.

We have the last rehearsal of the year coming so it's kind of a big night.
